Growing in Christ

After we become a Christian we are called to become a mature Christian. We need to be doing the following to be growing in Christ.

We need to be reading the Bible and obey what it says. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22 (ESV) If we are not reading God’s word then we will not be able to be doing what the Bible says to do. When we read the Bible we not only want to know what the Bible says but we want to obey the word of God. We want to be conformed to the ways of God. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 (ESV)

We need to be praying to God. “pray without ceasing” 1 Thes 5:17. We want to be doing the right things with the right motive in our hearts. We want to do it the right way. If we are continually praying that will help us to be putting God first in everything that we do.

We need to be doing evangelism. When Jesus called His disciples he called them to be fishers of men. Matthew 4:19 Every single Christian is called to be an Ambassador for Christ. 2 Cor 5:20. Every Christian is called to be able to give the reason for the hope that lies within. 1 Peter 3:15 You will want to learn to share the gospel and do it daily. You can learn to share the gospel here.

After we are saved we are created to do good deeds. Eph 2:10 If we want to be a useful vessel to God then we need to move in the direction of holiness. 2 Tim 2:20-22

We need to have fellowship with other Christians. Heb 10:25 As Christians we should desire to hangout with other Christians along with all the other things we have mentioned. A good sign that you are saved is that you like to handout with other believers.
