Brian’s Update:

It has been a great start to the semester so far. I’ve seen some students that I saw and spoke with last year, as well as meeting and sharing the gospel with new faces.

I’ve seen the Lord do some awesome things in the month of September.

I’ll start with the best encounter that I had this month because why wait to share the best news till the end and I’m too excited to share this one with you all, so I can’t wait. I had two students named “Naomi & Melanie” who were walking together to stop and take the IQ test. Like everyone I’ve had take this test, they thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a great ice breaker to start a gospel conversation. I then took them through the “good person test” using the ten commandments. Like we all do, they failed. As the Bible says in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” They realized they would be guilty on judgement day and that they would go to hell. I shared the gospel with them. Telling them the only way they could make it to heaven is to repent and trust in Christ. In closing, I asked them, when will you repent and trust in Christ. As I tell all students, I want honest answers. Don’t say, yes to appease me. I told them I value honesty and I’m not wanting them to pressure them to say yes. Well, praise the Lord. Naomi and Melaine both respond with, “right now.” I proceeded to pray for them. I gave them my business card, in case they were interested in joining a Bible study and or had any questions. I don’t have a photo of our encounter because I was by myself at the campus that day.

Last Tuesday, September 22, my fellow campus leader Timothy Jackson and I went out to my campus. You might not be able to tell in the photo but I am talking to two students here. Steven is in the black t-shirt and is closest to the camera. Behind Steven is Connor. Tuesday was kind of a tough day with getting students to take tracts and to have gospel conversations. Actually, out of the two hours Tim and I were at the campus, Steven and Connor were the only ones I was able to have a gospel conversation with. Sometimes it’s like that though. In this photo I was taking them through the IQ test, which they did not do well on. I told them I was asking them the IQ test questions to ultimately ask them this question, “what do y’all think happens when we die, do you believe in an after life?” Steven and Connor responded with a “yes.” I asked, “How do you get there?” Steven said, “by living a righteous life.” Connor gave a works based answer as well. That’s how easy it is to bring up the ten commandments. I then said I was going to see if they have lived a righteous life and if their works would be good enough to get to heaven. Steven and Connor had very humble spirits. They said in sincerity that they had lied, stolen, blasphemed God’s holy name, and had violated the commandment of adultery and what Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 by looking at women with lust in their hearts. I gave a short summation of what they had just confessed too. I asked, “As those who have violated the commandments, which we just looked at four of them, would they be innocent or guilty on judgement day? They both said they were guilty. I proceeded to ask if they would go to heaven or hell. They said, “hell.” Does that concern you? I know Steven said it did and I forgot how Connor responded. I told them it concerns me and that I love them and care about them and don’t want them to go to hell. I then shared the gospel with them. I clearly explained to them how repentance and faith in Christ go hand in hand to be a Christian. I asked them when they would repent and trust in Christ and asked them to be honest and I don’t want them to be pressured to say yes. Steven said, he already had done that. I brought up to him what he told me in the beginning when I asked how he believed he would get to heaven and that he said by righteous living a righteous life. I said that doesn’t line up with the gospel and that as the Bible says he needs to examine himself to see if he really is saved (2 Corinthians 13:5). Connor said, when he gets old. I told Connor about the brevity of life in James 4 and what if he dies before then. I then ended our conversation and thanked them for their time.

In the picture below is Wyatt. He is a junior. This is my second time talking to him. The first time we met I was with two other evangelists. There names are Don Karnes and Robert Gray. Great brothers. Robert shared the gospel with him. Wyatt profess faith in Christ. We exchanged numbers. This day I warned him about a certain cult that comes to the campus and sets up in the very spot where we are standing. That cult being the Jehovah’s Witnesses. He had never heard of them. I texted him a video from a good source explaining the beliefs of this cult. Of course we love Jehovah’s Witnesses and want them to be saved as we do everyone else, but their beliefs are dangerous. I desire to start a Bible study with him and even to have him evangelize with me in the near future.

Prayer requests.

Please pray that Naomi and Melanie truly did trust in Jesus and that they find a good church and grow in their new faith.

Pray that God would work in the hearts of Steven and Connor that will lead to their salvation.

For me to be able to get a Bible study started with Wyatt and others.

For everyone that has gotten tracts that God would save them.

Pray for God to continue to open doors on campus. Recently the university changed their policy for the 1st amendment to be carried out on campus. I now have to give them a 30 day notice to get on campus and their policy says it can’t be a recurring event. I’m wanting to be a good witness and have a good working relationship with the school admin but this seems too extreme to me and am trying to get advice from a lawyer on its legality. Pray that I can be a good witness and at the same not get put under burdensome rules and that an attorney will help me and others to practice the 1st amendment on campus.

Lastly, pray I can get enough financial support to spend more time reaching the students with the gospel and training them in the word.

With that as I close, while praying is the most important way you can support me. Financial support helps too. If you feel led to donate to me and what the Lord is doing on this campus, I would be eternally grateful. It will help me to be able to have more time at the campus. This is extremely important with all the lies from Satan that affect these students and how he is influencing our culture on campuses today, which I’m sure you are all aware of.
