Back on Campus — Reaching Students with the Truth

It is one of my greatest joys to serve with Christian Collegian Network (CCN), and I am so excited to be back on the campus of East Carolina University with the students!

Our First Outreach of the Semester

The picture above is from our first outreach on campus.

We presented students with a simple True or False statement:

“There is no evidence for God.”

This opened the door for some great conversations!

If a student said there was evidence for God, I asked, “What is your evidence?” If a student said there was no evidence for God, I asked the same question: “What is your evidence?”

It was interesting to hear their answers. Not every student who agreed that there is evidence for God was looking at that evidence from a Christian worldview. This gave me opportunities to ask questions, listen to what students believe, and point conversations toward the truth of Scripture and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I was also able to hand out invitations to our Bible studies and encourage students to come and investigate these questions with us.

This is at the heart of what we seek to do through Christian Collegian Network: evangelize the lost and disciple the found.

Two Weekly Bible Studies

This semester, we are holding two Bible studies each week.

Tuesday — Building a Foundation of Truth

Our Tuesday Bible study is geared toward new believers and students who are seeking to know the truth. We will begin by examining the reliability of the Bible—asking important questions about why we can trust God’s Word.

From there, we will begin studying the foundational book of the Bible, Genesis. Our desire is to help students build their lives upon the solid foundation of God’s Word.

Thursday — Standing Firm with Daniel

On Thursdays, we are studying the Book of Daniel.

Daniel lived in a culture that sought to change his identity and pressure him to conform to the beliefs and values of Babylon. Yet Daniel remained faithful to God.

Our culture today also seeks to take what is true and turn it into a lie. Students are continually confronted with messages that challenge the truth of God’s Word. We want to equip them to know the truth, stand upon the truth, and remain faithful to Christ even when the culture around them does not.

Please Pray for One of Our Students

One of our students was unable to return to college this year because her father suffered an aneurysm and then a stroke. While her daddy is healing, she is home helping care for him while also working to help support her family.

That is a tremendous responsibility for a young woman who was attending college just last year.

Please pray for her, her father, and their entire family. Pray for healing, strength, provision, encouragement, and that they would experience God’s presence during this difficult season.

The cost of doing campus ministry continues to increase. Gas is higher, parking is higher, and we continually need Bibles, Gospel materials, and other resources to place into the hands of students.
