Good End to the Year

I love going out on First Night to glorify God and share Jesus’ message of reconciliation. I had a wonderful night of sharing the gospel.   My favorite conversation was with a gentleman that wants to learn to go out witnessing.  I invited him to the Campus Mission Tour this year and will send him all the information that he needs to start explaining what Jesus has done for us on the cross.  I knew it was time to go because I ran out of tracts to handout.  If I had to guess at the stack size I would say 900 tracts were handed out.

II spent a lot of time at the clinic this month since the campuses were mostly shut down.  We saw a few people leave but that is never a guarantee that a baby was saved. I was able to explain the need for the gospel and what the good news is to many people in this environment.  Also I go down to make sure those that normally do ministry at the clinic are not alone during the holidays.

I spent as many days as I could at Pitt before they shut down.  I had a great conversation with a young lady I had talked to last year.  She remembered the conversation and wanted to continue it.  She was hostile but she asked about why bad things happen.  She wanted to know why I thought evolution is a lie? She seemed upset  that I had an answer.  She grew up in a Christian home and was not happy about it.  I tried to get her to tell me about what happened but she did not want to talk about it.  Many times if a person grew up in Christian homes and is angry it is because something bad happened and that is really what needs to be addressed.

There are those that are at church that are not Christians.  The Bible says there will be wheat and tares in the church together.  We are not to try and figure out who is who but we do need to protect those that are there. When we are out witnessing sometimes we need to give those that are angry, a shoulder to cry on and an understanding heart.

“He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field,  but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also.  And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’  But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them.  Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” Matt 13:23-30

Just because someone claims to be a Christian it does not mean they are a Christian.  The Bible says you must be born again.  The Bible tells us that you will know them by their fruit.  I often find that there are people that claim to be Christians that even the unbelievers know are not Christians.  A sign that a person might be a Christian is they are moving in the direction of holiness.  However, I have seen people that I thought were walking the holiest life I had ever seen and then they walked away from being a Christian and now they hate God.

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, ;he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 1 Cor 15:3-4

No matter what bad things happen the gospel is still true.  No matter what people do who claim to be Christians, God is good and He is God.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’  And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’” Matthew 7:22-23 ESV

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,,” Phil 2:12 ESV

God Bless you and thank you so much for your support.  I am grateful to be able to go out and proclaim the gospel.  I could not do these things without you. Thank you for partnering with me to share the gospel.
