Pray for the gentleman you see me talking to above. I shared the gospel with him. He believed that everyone gets to heaven. Be believed in a Jesus that is not just. He did not understand that Jesus died on the cross to pay the fine and that was what is needed to go to heaven. He believes that Jesus can just forgive without paying the fine. I explained God’s goodness to him. God is just and must punish sin wherever it is found. If God just forgives sin then he is not good. To be God, God must be good. He also believes that all Jewish people get to heaven. I explained to him that for anyone to get to heaven after the resurrection of Christ a person must repent and trust that Jesus paid the fine.
Pray for Elder Yates. I saw him walking down Forbes Ave trying to get into conversations with students. As he was getting turned down for conversations I handed tracts to those people he did not talk to. I finally caught up to him and at first he asked if I was a JW. I told him I was not so he was willing to talk to me. Thinking back about that I might have to ask him if they have an agreement to not witness to each other. I shared the gospel with him. I explained to him that he is not going to be able to become a god. I showed him the Bible which it says there is none like God.
“remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
10 declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,’”
Isaiah 46:9-10
I explained to him that Jesus is eternal, he always existed and has eternal value and if he does not then he does not have eternal value and cannot pay the fine for anyone else. Jesus needs to be truly God and truly man and never sin. I explained the gospel again. I reminded him that the Bible says that if you have another gospel let him be cursed. I told him he should be afraid since he believes in another gospel.
I told him if Jesus did not rise from the dead then I should not believe Christianity. I explained to him that if Smiths first encounter could be disproved or the golden plates could be shown to be untrue then Mormonism should not be believed.
I talked to Elder Yates about the different versions of the first vision and he said he was good with it. I asked him about Smith running through the woods with 200 Pound gold plates with a limp. I asked him if he would be able to run with 5 boxes of printer paper and he believed it was an act of God. He told me he had an appointment and had to go which I think was a lie.
Pray for Elder Davis. After I talked to Yates I saw Elder Davis and he was talking to Yates and so I did not think I would be able to talk to him. So I went and got Jill and tried to get her to cross the street to go talk to Davis. However, Davis ended up crossing the street to me. He was meeting up with four young ladies that were atheists. I asked the young ladies if they knew what Mormons believed since they were going to meet up with Elder Davis. And then Jill caught up with Elder Davis and engaged him in conversation while I shared the gospel with the young ladies. I explained to them that the Mormons believed that they had to live a perfect life to become a god on another planet. They would be married to the Mormon guy for all eternity making spirit babies for the new planet they would be a god of. The girls asked me lots of questions and I was able to answer their questions and share the gospel with them. Pray for the four young ladies as well.
