The Most Loving Thing You Can Do

The Bible says that God is love (1 Jn. 4:8). The Apostle Paul in his letter to the church in Corinth wrote that love is patient and kind; it doesn’t envy or boast; nor is it arrogant or rude (1 Cor. 13:4,5). These are biblical truths that are familiar to many Christians.

But in asking the world what love is we are not surprised to find many varying interpretations. More so, ask anyone these days what they think might be the most loving thing a person could do right now and you might hear things like “Put on a mask bro!” or “Go and vote!”

With regards to the “here and now” those answers might qualify as some worthy responses especially in light of the current state of affairs in our nation. But what about in light of eternity?

Each week on a Friday night CCN Campus Leaders Andre Goff and Cliff Fulwood along with members from Harvest Fellowship Church can be found faithfully preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and passing out tracts to passersby on the streets of Pottstown, PA. On these streets is where many wonderful witnessing encounters occur and where God is certainly glorified!

Meanwhile, on the other side of Pennsylvania, CCN President Jenifer Pepling meets outside the University of Pittsburgh Campus, a favorite fishing hole of hers, where she encounters many of the same regulars. “Witnessing in the same place over and over again” Jenifer explains “is awesome because you see people over and over again.” In a three-week period, Jenifer had preached the gospel to one man three times! In addition to encountering some of the same people, Jenifer would often hear repeatedly, most times by those who attend church, that they’ve never heard this (the gospel) before.

Throughout the month of October CCN Campus Missionary Dennis Miranda (red hoodie) and his friend, Gordon from church attended several rallies in the local area for the purpose of spreading the gospel (not germs). Dennis and Gordon engaged in many wonderful one-to-one witnessing encounters with rally goers and enjoyed dispensing hundreds of the new Living Waters Trump Trillion Dollar tracts to eager recipients at these events.

Many today are feeling isolated, rapidly losing hope, and in fear for their lives over the coronavirus pandemic. Others are wearing themselves thin worrying about the current election and who the next leader of our country will be. Yet, in light of those things and as concerning as they might be it is obvious to the follower of Christ that in these trying times the most loving thing you could do is to share the gospel with those around you.

The gospel is good news and now more than ever our nation needs to know the God of hope and to hear the message of salvation that comes through His Son by Whom we can truly know peace.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
