For David says concerning him, “‘I saw the Lord always before me,  for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken; 26 therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;  my flesh also will dwell in hope. 27 For you will not abandon my soul to Hades,   or let your Holy One see corruption. 28 You have made known to me the paths of life;   you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’ “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, 31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. 33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. 34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,“‘The Lord said to my Lord,
    “Sit at my right hand,35     until I make your enemies your footstool.”’ 36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.””

  • Revelation 12:9 “And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.”

  • 1 John 1:8-10 “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

  1. “Matter, sin, and sickness are not real, but only illusions,”  S&H 335:7-15; 447:27-28.

  • Genesis 3:  14-24   “The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock  and above all beasts of the field;
    on your belly you shall go    and dust you shall eat    all the days of your life.15 I will put enmity between you and the woman,    and between your offspring[e] and her offspring;
    he shall bruise your head,    and you shall bruise his heel.”16 To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing;    in pain you shall bring forth children.Your desire shall be contrary to[f] your husband,    but he shall rule over you.” 17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife    and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you,    ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you;    in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you;     and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face    you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground,    for out of it you were taken; for you are dust,    and to dust you shall return.” 20 The man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living 21 And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them. 22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” 23 Therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. 24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. Sin cost Adam and Eve everything: their relationship with God, with each other, every relationship to come, pain entered the world, briars, thorns etc, they became homeless, and an animal or two that they must have cared for were destroyed so that they could cover themselves. “

He was despised and rejected[b] by men,    a man of sorrows[c] and acquainted with[d] grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces    he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs  and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken,    smitten by God, and afflicted.But he was pierced for our transgressions;    he was crushed for our iniquities;
    upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,    and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray;    we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him   the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,  yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,  and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away;    and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living,    stricken for the transgression of my people? And they made his grave with the wicked    and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence,   and there was no deceit in his mouth.10 Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him;   he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt,  he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. 11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see[i] and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous,   and he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death    and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many,    and makes intercession for the transgressors.”

  • Additionally, Christian Scientists prefer not to use doctors, medicine, or immunizations.  Christian Science Practitioners are used to help people through the false reality of illness.

  • Proper prayer and training are employed to battle the “non-reality” of illness.

  • They have no ordinances like the Lord’s Supper or baptism.

  • Church services are interspersed with Bible reading and readings from Science and Health.

  • Mary Baker Eddy is highly regarded as a revelator of God’s word.
