Jehovah's Witnesses

ESV scriptures to help witnessing to JW’s.  If you do not know what JW’s believe and why to use these verses, you should go and read everything on the CARM.org page and then just use this to see the verses that are important.

  • Can anyone out do God in anything?  If Jesus is not God how can he out do God? 1 John 4:16 “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”
  •  Jesus represents the father, Jesus is not just an angel but is the glory of God.- Hebrews 1:3 “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”
  • If Jesus isn’t God isn’t he doing greater than God? John 14:6-7 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.[a] From now on you do know him and have seen him.””
  •  If Jesus is God then he is performing the greatest act of love? John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
  • Jesus of the Bible cannot be another “god” because God says there is only ONE—Isa 43:10-11 ““You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord,  “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me  and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed,  nor shall there be any after me.11 I, I am the Lord,   and besides me there is no savior.”
  • Jesus of the Bible can not be an angel, he is contrasted against the angels – Heb 1:3-8 “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.  5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father,  and he shall be to me a son”? 6 And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”7 Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds,   and his ministers a flame of fire.”8 But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.”
  • Jesus is not a creation, but the Creator .. The word “other” has been inserted four time in this passage of the JW “bible” Col 1:16-17
  • Unless a man is borne again” he can not enter the Kingdom of God, there are no exceptions John 3:3 “Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.””
  • Nails and Hands John 20:25 “So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.””
  • Rev 7:5-8 these 12,000 of each tribe are virgin men  (Rev 14:4) “It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as first fruits for God and the Lamb,”
  • Rev 1:8 ““I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”” (who is this?) Rev 22:13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.””  (who is this?) Rev 1:17 “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,”  (Who is this?)  Rev 1-18 “and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.”  (When did Jehovah die?)
  • John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” ( true god or false god?) Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder,  and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,  Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (true God or false God?) Isaiah 46:9 “remember the former things of old;
    for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me,”  There is only 1 God so these true Gods must be the God
