Jesus is Messiah

Jesus has to be the Messiah or we missed the Messiah.  These are good verses to go over with Jewish people.   These are NASB verses.  I got this information from “Discovering the Glorious Gospel” by Paul Washer pages 27 and 28.  I recommend you buy this resource it is $7 and brings the gospel alive.

Gen 49:10  “he scepter will not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.”  “This promises that a descendant of Judah would reign until the coming of the Messiah.  In 70 AD, the city of Jerusalem was destroyed, the political domnion and authority of the Jews was taken away, and the nation was scattered. …  If Jesus is not the Christ, then God’s promise has failed.”

Daniel 9:24-27 “““Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the wrongdoing, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place. 25 So you are to know and understand that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until Messiah the Prince, there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with streets and moat, even in times of distress. 26 Then after the sixty-two weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. 27 And he will confirm a covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come the one who makes desolate, until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, gushes forth on the one who makes desolate.”

The Messiah was to show up 434 years after the call of Cyrus to rebuild the temple.

Malachi 3:1-3″“Behold, I am sending My messenger, and he will clear a way before Me. And the Lord, whom you are seeking, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,” says the Lord of armies. “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire, and like launderer’s soap. And He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the Lord offerings in righteousness.,”

If the Messiah as to come during the second temple then the Messiah had to have come before 70 AD.

Isaiah 11:1 “Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch from his roots will bear fruit.”

The Messiah needs to be a shoot from the stump of Jesse.  With the destruction of the temple in 70 AD so were all the genealogical evidence.  No one could prove they are from the line of Jesse now.

Daniel 9:27 “And he will confirm a covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come the one who makes desolate, until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, gushes forth on the one who makes desolate.””

“The Messiah would confirm the New Covenant and put an end to the sacrificial system under the Old Covenant.  The sacrificial system ended with the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in 70 AD.  If Jesus is not the Christ then the Old Testament sacrificial system has ended without the coming of the Messiah.”
